Flowers

What if joy is the wisest strategy we have?

Last Friday, I wandered through my favorite local nursery—rows of lobelias, impatiens, geraniums, alyssum, and petunias waiting to be chosen. I picked out this year’s color palette for my 20 flower boxes, imagined how they’ll look blooming on our deck, and felt that familiar spark.

It was planting weekend at our house.

The peas, kale, and Swiss chard are already pushing through the soil in my raised bed. My husband will plant his dahlias. It’s our spring ritual. Rooting into the earth. Rooting into joy.

Lately, I’ve been choosing joy with intention—time with my family, my great niece’s dance recital, a moment breathing in horse breath, simply sitting in the sunshine with no agenda. Yesterday, I moved my office to the dining room table so I could open the deck door and work with the trees, birds, and fresh air beside me. I had beautiful client calls and got so much done.

Joy lifted everything.

And in a world that can feel like too much—too fast, too heavy, too loud—I’m realizing:
Joy is the antidote.
Not to escape, but to return.
To remember what makes life—and business—meaningful.

This is what the Joyful Warrior is all about. I chose that theme for last year’s Ignite, and she keeps revealing her wisdom in this year we call 2025:

  • She doesn’t armor up with hustle—she roots in purpose.
  • She doesn’t ignore the world—she meets it with a heart wide open.
  • She lets joy lead—not as fluff, but as fierce devotion.

Joy isn’t an afterthought. It’s strategy. It’s resilience. It’s fuel.
And it changes how we show up as leaders, as creators, as women of purpose.

So I’ll ask you:
What’s your version of the flower box?
What’s calling you back to joy this week?

It matters more than ever.
