Last weekend, I carved out time to complete a survey from Candace Smith of The Essence Photographer, in preparation for one of her Embodied Legacy Photo Shoot experiences.
The survey proved to be a thought-provoking journey into essence.
Candace’s questions were beautifully aligned with the kind of work I do with my clients—getting to the truth of who you are, beneath the roles, the business, the titles. Years ago, I wrote my original essence statement (highlighted in purple below). And as I sat with Candace’s reflections, I expanded on it:
I am a passionate and wild soul with a thread of quiet wisdom running through. I love to dance in the energy of nature, people, and the mysteries of life in great joy and happiness.
I am calm & grounded and fiery & illuminated.
I trust my inner wisdom and am a fierce loyalist to the people and causes I care about. Connected.
I believe women’s wisdom is the medicine our earth needs, and I am committed to uplifting women in their voices.
I am a light for doing business differently—rooted in women’s wisdom, collaboration, and soul-led strategy.
That still feels true.
Because your essence isn’t just who you are today—it’s who you’ve always been.
One of the most powerful questions Candace asked was:
“Who are you becoming?”

When I sat with it, the word that rose was: Bold.
Not the loud kind. The embodied kind. Rooted. Intentional. Alive.
And then came the moment of confirmation.
That night, I woke up in the middle of the night—always a sign that Source is speaking—with two words I couldn’t shake:
Rooted Flame.
It landed like lightning.
Earth and Fire. Grounded and Radiant.
Me.
But more than that—it’s also what I teach.
This is what visibility looks like in my world:
- Rooted in who you are.
- Lit from within.
- Resonating with the world around you—not shouting, just shining.
It’s what we embody at our Soul Speaks from the Stage (coming in July)—owning your story and igniting it with soul.
It’s what the horses teach in my Equine Vision Journey (also coming in July)—that presence is a frequency.
It’s what my clients rise into inside both of my Soul+Strategy Mastermind Programs—being visible, powerful, and deeply aligned.
Rooted Flame is a truth.
It’s an invitation.
And it’s a reminder that you don’t have to choose between being calm or fierce, grounded or bold.
You’re allowed to be both.
So I leave you with these questions—perhaps an invitation for your journal this week:
A Soulful Brand Check-In:
- Who are you at your essence—not your role, but your rhythm?
- What dichotomies live in you right now? What makes you magnetic because of your range?
