Finding Your Rooms: Where Your Work, Voice, and Relationships Align

There is a question I hear often from women entrepreneurs as their business begins to grow: where should I be showing up?

It usually comes at a moment when they are already visible in some way. They are attending events, joining communities, building relationships, and putting themselves out there. Just yesterday, I had a conversation with a client who was feeling the weight of trying to attend all the networking events in front of her. She could see so many opportunities to connect, and in many ways, she was right. There are rooms we could step into almost every day of the week.

At a certain point, that pace begins to stretch you thin. Your time gets fragmented, your energy gets diluted, and the depth of your relationships begins to suffer. This is where the question begins to surface more clearly. Which rooms actually matter? Where is your time best spent? Where does your work truly land?

At its core, this is a question of alignment.

Over the years, I have become deeply selective about where I spend my time. That selectivity has come from experience, from being in many different rooms, and from learning what feels aligned and what does not.

I have tried on many communities throughout my business journey. Some felt good for a season. Some were not the right fit. Each one helped me refine my understanding of where my work, my voice, and my energy are best expressed. What I have learned is that not all rooms hold the same value for your business.

Some rooms are expansive. Your ideas land. Conversations flow easily. There is a shared understanding of the work you do, and a natural desire to support one another. You leave those spaces feeling energized and more connected to your work. Other rooms require more effort to be seen and understood. The connection may still be kind and meaningful, and it takes more energy to stay engaged, while the conversations do not naturally open into something more.

Most of us can feel this fairly quickly. Part of growing your business is learning to trust what you notice in those moments and allowing that awareness to guide where you place your time and attention.

For me, one of the communities where this alignment is very strong is eWomen Network. I participate at a high level there as a Platinum member, which means I am in a circle with women who have chosen to invest deeply in their growth and their businesses.

Every time I have seen Sandra Yancey, the founder and CEO, speak, which is many, many times, she shares some version of the same message. We all should have coaches, and she includes herself in that declaration. I appreciate this shared value and the culture of growth she has built, grounded in a deep, unwavering belief in the value of having a coach on your journey.

I’m honored to have been selected as a Premier Success Coach, which allows me to partner with the organization in supporting their members.

The vision of helping one million women reach one million dollars and the values that guide that vision are aligned with how I see the world and the work I do. It connects deeply with my own vision of helping one million women raise up their voice, their visibility, and grow businesses they love.

Because of that alignment, the relationships I build in that space carry depth. I value the global network I have access to, and the opportunities to speak across chapters throughout North America continue to expand my circle in meaningful ways. I am in conversation with women who are further along in their businesses, which stretches how I think, and I am also in circle with women who share a similar set of values and intentions. That combination matters.

There are multiple dimensions to how I participate in a space like this. I am there to learn and to grow, to expand my own visibility, and to continue building a global network of relationships. I am both receiving and contributing, stretching into new opportunities while also supporting others in theirs. In this kind of engagement, a room becomes an intricate part of how your business evolves over time.

Alongside broader communities, I have also been part of more intimate mastermind spaces throughout the years. These are rooms where I have intentionally chosen to be in circle with a smaller group of women who are deeply committed to their growth, their businesses, and their leadership.

In those spaces, I am looking for a leader I believe in, someone whose perspective challenges me and expands how I think about my business. Someone who has already traveled the road before me and brings her wisdom into my own expansion. She can help me move forward more quickly than I would on my own because she brings perspective and experience that shortens the path.

These are not short-term commitments for me. I tend to stay in these communities for multiple years because of the depth they offer. The conversations are more intimate, the support is more strategic, and the relationships have time to develop in a way that creates real momentum.

There is a level of knowing that comes from being in a relationship over time, where a coach understands my business, my patterns, and the direction I am growing into. That kind of support allows for deeper strategic thinking, stronger decisions, and more aligned growth. This is a different kind of room, and it serves a different purpose.

When you find a room like that, especially within these more intimate mastermind spaces, it becomes a place where you show up fully with the people in that community. You participate, you contribute, and you build relationships over time. These are the spaces where people really get to know you, and where you get to know them in a deeper way.

Over the years, many of these connections have become long-term relationships. Some have grown into client relationships, and in other cases, I have become a client to them. There is a natural reciprocity that develops when you are in aligned rooms and relationships are given the space to deepen.

Visibility is about being in the right places and allowing your presence in those places to deepen over time. When you are in aligned rooms, conversations happen more naturally, relationships build more easily, your work is understood more quickly, and opportunities begin to emerge through the connections you are already creating.

There is also an important piece of discernment here. Not every room is meant for you, and not every space needs your energy. As you become more selective, your energy becomes more focused, your presence becomes stronger, and your relationships begin to carry more depth.

Over time, you begin to see that it is not the number of places you show up that creates momentum. It is the quality of the rooms you choose and the way you show up within them.

A few reflections to consider

Take a moment to look at where you are currently showing up:

  1. Where do you feel most aligned, where your voice lands easily and your work is understood? Notice the rooms where you feel a natural sense of connection and where your presence feels grounded and received.
  1. Where do conversations flow naturally into deeper connection and opportunity? Pay attention to the spaces where relationships begin to build with ease and where there is a sense of momentum in your interactions.
  1. Where are you spending time that feels good, yet may not be moving your work forward in a meaningful way? As you reflect on that, consider where you might choose to go deeper instead of wider, allowing your energy to be more focused and your relationships to develop over time.
  1. Where can you intentionally spend less time? Notice the rooms that may have served you in the past or feel comfortable to return to, and consider whether they are still aligned with where you are growing now.
  1. When you look at your current and past clients, where did those relationships begin? Which communities, rooms, or spaces have consistently led to real clients over time? Let your own experience guide where you continue to invest your energy.
  1. Is there a mastermind or more intimate space where you are supported at a deeper level? Consider where you have access to a leader you trust, someone who helps you see bigger possibilities, and a circle of women who are committed to their growth. This is where thought partnership, intimate conversations, and shared wisdom begin to shape your next level of evolution.

If you are feeling the pull to grow your business in a way that is more intentional, more relational, and more aligned with how you want to lead, this is the work we step into together inside The Rhythm of Client Attraction: How Women Build Consistent Revenue Through Relationship, Community, and Visibility.

It becomes a space where you begin to trust where your energy belongs, where your relationships begin to carry more depth, and where your business starts to grow through the connections you are already building.

I would love to have you step into that room with me.
